Nagasaki Prefecture/
Ikishima Island

A Bountiful Treasure Trove Unlike Anything Else
Nagasaki Prefecture's Iki Island is often referred to as the Island of the Gods, since it was the fifth island created in Japan according to the Japanese chronicle of myths titled the Kojiki.
The produce fostered by the fertile land here is all of the highest quality, and fishing for tuna thrives so much here that the phrase, "Oma to the east and Iki to the west," is common among the fishing industry. The nutrients from Iki Island's forests work to benefit the surrounding waters.
This richly bountiful island is home to Omoya Shuzo, a brewery that crafts traditional barley shochu at its birthplace, as well as Japanese sake that condenses the natural landscape here through the island's rice and water.
Our aim is to offer "world-renowned sake from Iki."

Crafted by Two

Our shochu and Japanese sake brewery is run by two brothers.
We hold onto what works well and we change what needs to be changed.
By supporting each other, Omoya Shuzo has grown as a brewery as we share the numerous ideas we have about shochu and Japanese sake.
Our goal is to spread Iki's sake all over the world.

横山 雄三

Executive Chairman and Shochu MasterYokoyama Yuzo
"Iki Shochu" has been passed down from each generation without pause as a part of the island's culture, and it had the honor of receiving the international brand "Geographical Indication's Designation of Origin" under the TRIPS Agreement by the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 1995.
Moving forward into the future, we will use our brewery's shochu and Japanese sake to showcase the island's landscape and nature, as well as the personalities of the island's locals, as a way to ensure that children here can take pride in Iki Island just like the globally recognized "Iki Shochu."

横山 太三

CEO and Sake MasterYokoyama Taizo
"Nihon-shu" in Japanese is popularly referred to as "sake" throughout the world.
Therefore, our brewery has crafted Japanese sake on Iki Island that is beloved around the world, and just like with wine, it pairs well with both Japanese cuisine and Western cuisine as a first drink to start your meal.

Iki was the fifth island created by the gods according to Japanese mythology.
We will continue to craft Japanese sake that is adored all over the world from here in Iki, which has a far-reaching history and has been protected by the numerous Shinto shrines that the island is home to.
